About the Jurors...
Barbara Chadwick-Bland has a BFA/MFA in Ceramics with a minor in Art history. Has taught Art Appreciation, 2.D Design, 3.D Design and Ceramics at the college level. Currently working as a full-time artist. Recently participated in the Smithsonian Craft Show in Washington, D.C., and Cherry Creek Arts Festival in Denver, Colorado.Fran Padgett began art studies with teachers from the University of Central Arkansas, continuing her self-study with numerous workshops ranging from Japanese painting to traditional portraiture. A gifted and prolific artist, Fran's paintings have been included in group shows, one-artist exhibits, galleries, banks and corporate offices around the country. Countless completed works are in private and corporate collections. Through her art, and through her new book "Breast Cancer Recovery: No One Wrote a Manual" Fran shares the triumphs, the sadness, the intensely personal choices; the ironies, the laughter, the tears; the sensations of survival and the complexities of healing. Fran is a charter member of the Museum of Fine Art, Cypress Creek in Spring, Texas and Founder and President of The Weathervane Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization benefiting breast cancer awareness and research.
Lisa Qualls has a BFA from the University of Texas and has studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons in New York, NY as well as CISIM in Ravenna, Italy. She is primarily a sculptor but has also shown as a photographer, printmaker and performance artist. Lisa taught high school art for five years. In 2003 she received a project grant from the Cultural Arts Council of Houston and Harris County. Most recently she exhibited work at the Art Car Museum and the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. She lives and works in Houston, TX.
