We will be adding the two to fill out the Feb. 15th contestants with 1-2 back ups in case someone drops out. The ORDER of appearance will be posted next Wednesday- 8th at which time final song selection must be established.

It was another awesome display of talent among our high school students. Out of 555 entries in the two categories above, two individuals came away with the GRAND PRIZE of $5,000 each!

Congratulations to Lane Preston, a Senior at Jersey Village (Alana Jordan-teacher) who won 1st place and $5,000 in Photography. First place in Electronic Media and $5,000 went to Julianne Crea, a Junior at Cy-Fair (Earl Emery- teacher). Can you imagine being in high school and getting a check for $5,000? Not in my day!

Congratulations to the other 18 winners who took home anywhere from $250 to $2,000. And then there’s the HUNDREDS who took the risk, presented their art, and gained valuable experience for the next time. All winners and the pictures of the entries will be posted in the next few days.

Amazingly, 12 of the 20 winners came from Cy-Fair ISD. Way to ROCK Cy-Fair!

Weekend Review

Saturday: Check in time is 10-4:00. The least wait time is usually mid day. Regardless of when you come, the weather promises to be awesome!

Sunday: The judges do their work from 8am-noon, The award ceremony is from 4-5:30, and then all art is picked up from 5:30-7:00pm.Congratulations to all 555 entries and the 128 students who entered both categories with a shot at winning $10,000. Wonder if there will be a double first place winners? Come and see Sunday

Saturday Check In

The check in time Saturday is 10-4. Since this isn’t our first rodeo, but year #12, let me share one common sense observation. The worst time to check in is in the first 30 minutes because:

>Everyone wants to be first and it is crowded
>The staff is doing it for the first time (of this go-round) and
working through the learning curve.
>Some people have unavoidable delays and may be late leaving
us short-handed at first.

But, we’ve done this before without too much delay- like just two months ago. Good luck!

Congratulations! We look forward to seeing the art and handing out $25,000 in prize money. All art must be brought in Saturday between 10 and 4 and picked up Sunday between 5:30 and 7.

Everyone (students, parents, teachers, administrators, and friends) is invited to the Award Ceremony to cheer you on Sunday from 4-5:30

The 2nd Semi Final had some awesome competition, and I mean AWESOME.

Walking away with $500 and 1st place was Brooke Humphrey (Senior at Cy-Woods). Second place and $300 went to Kristen DelBosque (Senior at Klein). Both of them now advance to the FINALS. Third place, and $200, went to Erica Marks (Sophmore at Austin), who is now also eligible to come back in December.

Registration for December 7th will begin SOON.

Pictures of the winning twenty entries for Painting & Mixed Media are now posted.

I had to do a double take when I saw who the judges had declared the FIRST PLACE winners in the Painting and Mixed Media contests. Two different people with the same last name. A special congratulations to our first place winners who each received a check for $5,000!
