We survived our first experiment at a one day check in. It took 100+ volunteers over the 11 hour day with a peak three hour period of one entry per twenty seconds taken in.
One thing we learned is that we need to TRIPLE our teacher capability for checking in and we’ll do that next year. Thanks for bearing with us in those first three hectic hours.
In light of hurricane Ike and some schools being out for two weeks, we are more than satisfied with the 1,018 entries. The unofficial totals by category are: Drawing 253, Photography 231, Mixed Media 184, Electronic Media 143, Painting 111, and Sculpture 96.
We’re hopeful that we can raise $15,000 between now and next March so we can have a film festival and honor our future film stars with the same financial rewards.
On to the judging Sunday and Sunday afternoon pick up! Remember, be by the phone and the number you gave us Saturday. We will call the 90 semi finalists (top 15 in each of the six categories) around 2:30 to tell you that you dn’t need to pick up your piece.
