It makes me really sad to know how Culture Shapers is extremely subjective. It makes me sad because out there, there’s many artists that put their heart into their piece and then they soon discover their artwork was rejected. The entries that made it to the top 15 I call them ” the judge’s tastes”. The Top 15, which of course, do show great ability and talent are sometimes just chosen because judges like them. Within judges, they relate to some of those entries. It makes me upset because sometimes I feel my artwork isn’t that good and that I’m not an artist at heart. That’s what upsets me most about this competition: not knowing if your entry was good enough to rank among the “best.” Personally, I think art shouldn’t be as subjective as this. Judges just choose the ones they like, they sometimes lack that ability to recognize the HEART put into the piece. That’s why I dedicate this reply to all those great artists that weren’t able to make it through this year. I hope you find within yourself an inspiration, a motivation to keep working hard, to keep doing that great artwork. Don’t worry if you didn’t make it, have perseverance within yourself and never give up.
But for now, I just wanted to leave a message to all those that are sharing the same feelings I’m feeling now:
“The greatest glory consists not in never fallings, but in rising in every time we fall”
-Vincent Van Gogh
